This book is informative and filled with hope for sufferers of bipolar disorder. When read in progression, Dr. Cochrans’ 3 books follow the progression of his learning about these disorders and their link to chronic pain in a logical fashion. His willingness to challenge the status quo is both courageous and compassionate. Having suffered from bipolar disorder my entire life, these books and the information contained in them have given me hope that a normal life is possible for me and others like me. These books are a must read for people with mental disorders. Thank you Dr.
If you buy this book it will show you a side to this topic you never would have thought about. You learn a lot more and think about this stuff like you never would have. I bought it at a store looking for something to read at night time and finished thinking “I never would have thought about that”. Its worth it considering I paid $20 for it which is aggravating but that’s okay.
This is a must read book for understanding how Opiates truly help people with different mental or emotional issues. I have Post Traumatic Stress and Chronic Pain. I have found Dr. Cochran’s methods proven true. I thank him for his insight and help.

This book was very informative. Its obvious the Auther has great compassion for patients enduring chromic pain. He has many years of hands on experience as he demonstrates by giving real patient sinerios using opiates for pain and the bipolar spectrum.When I finished this book I had a clear understanding of his knowledge treating patients each and everyone as an individual.
Dr. Cochran has 3 books out. This is the 2nd book. I couldn’t put it down. AWESOME AWESOME book…a MUST READ for anyone suffering any type of Chronic Pain. I had no idea there were others out there going through the same things as I have been for the past 5 years. This book offers something anyone is pain is asking for, HOPE!!!!
This is a pretty pedestrian book about an interesting subject. The author claims to have cured both chronic pain and bipolar disorder with opiates. He offers no real reason for why he makes these claims, but does offer lots of case histories to back them up. I found myself wanting more than what was offered; some sort of explanation of his claims would have been nice. Even if it was speculation it would have been nice to have. I also found it a little bit condescending to have him use the phrase “that’s the bipolar way” several times, especially because he used it to dismiss some ‘non-compliant’ behaviors.

THIS BOOK IS SO WONDERFUL. EVERY BOOK THAT DR. COCHRAN WRITES GETS BETTER AND BETTER. HE IS ONE OF THE MOST INTELLIGENT DOCTORS THAT I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED IN MY LIFE. PLEASE READ EVERY BOOK HE HAS WRITTEN. WONDERFUL!!!!
